Embrace Your Inner Self

We, as humans, tend to be our biggest critics, always being hard on ourselves for not succeeding at certain tasks or fulfilling certain obligations in our daily lives.

The same can be said when approaching our fitness journeys. Fitness is ever-evolving, and to truly see complete changes in ourselves, we need to focus on more than just workout intensity and nutrition. The mental and emotional side of fitness is also equally important to focus on. This may be the most challenging aspect for some to grasp.

Have you ever looked in the mirror and immediately began to criticize yourself? Sure, we all have. Instead of immediately going to the negative, why not think about something positive that we’ve done for ourselves? This could be something as simple as a daily affirmation relating to your life or simply being thankful to our bodies for allowing us to move in the ways we do. Even admiring a change in the overall strength of a muscle or extremity, or by complimenting yourself daily.

By changing the way we see ourselves, not only will we see changes mentally and emotionally, but also physically. This can then help us bring more longevity to our success and encourage continuation in our physical fitness goals. Is it going to be a challenge? OF COURSE! Similar to hitting the last rep in a workout set, you may hit your rep range, or you may not. It’s all about acknowledging your challenges and celebrating your achievements while being realistic and still enjoying your life. You are creating a force to be reckoned with, and that’s something unique. It’s important to continually challenge yourself and understand that every day is different, just like in life.

Be proud of your outlook, of yourself, and of your journey. It may not have been perfect, but you’ve gotten this far, and there is so much more to come. Moments and experiences like this nourish our minds, bodies, and spirits, culminating in fully understanding what the concept of fitness is and what it entails.

Persevere and stay in the challenge!
